Christians Calling Christians Cults
02/13/07
Christians are calling Christians cults. How stupid is that? Satan is probably laughing at us for such stupidity. He's probably thinking that he has less work to do because we're practically killing each other off.
There are things that make me wonder. If the goal of Christianity is to spread the gospel and testify to God, Jesus Christ, and their goodness, why are their attacks directed at Christians like us trying to achieve the same goals, and not the Shamaans, Buddhists, or even the Satan worshippers?
Also, they have a list of cult behaviors which I see is prevalent in the "normal" Christian churches. It's almost as if they choose what groups these cult behaviors apply to.
For example, love-bombing. Ha! Isn't that another word for "love your neighbors?" Isn't that what we are supposed to do as Bible-abiding Christians? Imagine that! Being criticized for being kind to people.
Another is brainwashing. That's a whole new topic. What is considered brainwashing? Is it repetition, sort of like everyday advertisement on TV? Is it sleep deprivation, sort of like what they demand in any entertainment or broadcasting business?
And if brainwashing is to teach what is good, for example, "this is your brain, this is your brain on drugs, any questions?" then would it still be considered brainwashing or would it then be acceptable brainwashing? Or what about the all-too-familiar brainwashing by our parents, "don't talk to strangers," "clean up your room," "you're a nobody," "don't stay out too late," "eat your vegetables," and well, you get the point.
If we were to scrutinize any group, it's only inevitable that we will find something that will fall under cult behavior list.
In the Bible, the Jews preferred to crucify Jesus Christ over Barabbas the "notorious prisoner." In the same way, it seems to be human nature to crucify the innocent over the guilty. There are murderers on the lose and we waste time putting someone dedicated to improve society and its people on the cross.
Someone mentioned this to me the other day, that this is no different than the days of witch hunting. If someone was slightly different or revolutionary, they were quick to judge that they were witches and put them on a stake to burn.
We need to re-evaluate the standard of cults, not with behaviors but with its fruits.
Here is my opinion on Cult Awareness Groups that are quick to label a group as a cult.
They say that if a group teaches other than what is orthodox, it's a cult but their constant judge of other people is unorthodox to the Bible.
They say that if a group forces belief on others, it's a cult but they "deprogram" individuals to believe what they used to believe through sleep deprivation, starvation, and even electrocution. And when I say, sleep deprivation, I don't mean making them wake up at 4am to pray. I mean that they will pinch you, spray water on you, or electrocute you if you even so much as blink an eye to sleep.
If a group, like Providence, has gotten kids off the street and off drugs, gotten them to stop drinking, stop smoking, do well in school, and respect their parents, why put a stop to them?
I don't understand it when people talk about how corrupt the society has become, schooling has worsened, and violence has increased but try to abolish groups that try to make the world a better place. That just screams CONTRADICTION.

The reason being that it is really the media that determines what the majority sees. Then the majority will judge only based on the information they are handed. And there are so many things to consider. Some are just too lazy to look into anything, some just don't care, and some are simply misinformed.
The Bible should be our absolute authority but somewhere down the line, we put the Pope, the scribes, and theologians as our authorities.
Good quotes of bible scriptures, by the way.
